Physical Education is a developmental and instructional program that is an integral part of the total educational experience for each child. Please make sure you child has the prooper attire for his/her physical education class. (e.g., tennis shoes, comfortable shirt and pants appropriate for the weather.)
It's mandatory that the following four activities be taught by each physical education specialist:
|
| |
- Tumbling: 3-week unit to be completed between January and February
- Healthy Choices/Healthy habits: 3-week course during December and January.
- Jump for your Pump: yearly fundraiser completed in November.
- Fitness Gram: All 5th graders are given a state fitness teswt to see how well they are doing in Physical Education. All students practice for the fitness gram in their P.E. classes. Listed below are 5 areas of testing for fifth graders:
|
|
- Mile Run
- Push-ups
- Flexibility: "Sit-n-Reach" test measures flexibility of lower back and leg muscles
- Crunches: students must slide their hands over a four inch piece of rubber while doing sit-ups
- Trunk Lift: students lay face down onthe ground with their chin touching the ground. Students must place the palms of their hands on their thighs. Feet must be on the ground at all times. Students will then raise their chins as high as possible. A passing score is 12 or more.
