To meet or exceed our state API. Students will reflect and demonstrate:
high quality of thinking and understanding
integration of supportive technology
connection with the real world
ability to use a variety of tools and skills related to all curricular areas
ability to self-assess
respect and value for the diverse population of our school and community
Our students are encouraged to work hard, take pride in their work, enjoy learning, and be proud of their accomplishments. On any given day, you’ll see students enthusiastically working in a variety of settings including small guided groups, cooperative groups, cross-grade level groups, or working individually. They might be working at a computer, reading together, writing and editing papers, researching, solving math problems, or discussing issues. Students are often asked to express their thoughts and opinions about their curriculum, current events, and the direction of Roosevelt school. We will be continuing these practices but pay particular attention to narrowing the existing achievement gap by focusing on presenting lessons that meet the needs of all learning styles. With the restrictions of teaching within the public school system, we would like to find the resources to work with individual students to improve their academic and social confidence. In conjunction with working with the students, we plan on implementing a system for parent and family outreach programs.
